Jiří Trtík

Jiří Trtík is a Czech composer, conductor and educator. In 2021, he received the OSA Award as the most successful Czech composer of classical music outside the Czech Republic. He has worked with many renowned musicians and ensembles, such as members of the Metropolitan Opera in New York and the Cleveland Orchestra. His works have been shown in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany, Latvia, USA and Japan. He composed music for several films, including “Wolves on the Border”. He has won awards at international competitions and the Donald Erb Prize in 2018. He studied at the Cleveland Institute of Music, the Prague Conservatory and Charles University. Since 2020 he has been teaching at the International Conservatory in Prague. In 2024 he composed music for the opera of the National Theatre in Prague entitled “Kafka's Letter to the Father”, where he performs together with his orchestra Stro.My Ensemble. He has also collaborated with composer Karel Havlíček for a long time.
